Getting Started

  • Attend homeschool conferences, seminars, and curriculum fairs.

  • Consider subscribing to a home education magazine. You'll find them very helpful and informative.

  • Order free catalogs!

  • Select your curriculum. Consider your teaching style, child's learning style, affordability and objectives.

What do we meanby "style"? "The 5 Flavors of Homeschooling" concept taught by Sonya Schafer explains different learning and teaching styles while helping you find your "style" or "flavor" in a fun and interactive way.

There are many options for home education curriculum. You may choose to use one publisher's complete graded coursework for the first year. Once you have begun you may want to design your own curriculum from the many available sources. Other options are available such as correspondence courses, web-based instruction, and computer based instruction.
